Kids Super Smile, a Howard County Pediatric Dental Office in Columbia, MD, is partnering with Operation Gratitude to bring a “Super Smile” to soldiers overseas until the end of June, and I am happy to help spread the word for this great cause.
This can also be a great project to get your children involved in. Operation Gratitude will have three parts: Donation Drive, Letter Writing, and KSS Care Kit Day.
1. Donation Drive – This is the perfect time to spring clean your overstock of toiletries. Many of my readers and clients tend to overbuy on personal items, so check your medicine cabinet, bathroom cabinets, drawers, cupboards, etc. and donate a few unused items towards a care kit. You can either drop them off the items to Kids Super Smile, or make arrangements with me to do so on your behalf.
During May and June, please considering bringing or sending in any of the following items to help us build care kits for the soldiers.
- Lip Balm
- Travel Sized Toothpastes
- Roll-on Deodorant
- Individual Packets of Moist Towelettes
- Hand/Foot Warmers
- Travel Sized Foot Powder
2. KSS Care Kit Day– At the end of June, Kids Super Smile will be packing the generous donations received into individual hygiene kits. This is another way you can help. Stay tuned for more information nearer the time.
3. Letter Writing Campaign– Please consider writing letters to the soldiers! Personal letters are often the most cherished gift a soldier can receive. This option can be done from home with your children! Follow this link for a full page flyer with directions and helpful hints on writing letters (see screenshot on this page). Feel free to mail your letters yourself or give them to Kids Super Smile, who will take care of it for you!
