Spring cleaning inspiration: an organized entryway closet

Looking for some spring cleaning inspiration?  Check out this entryway closet from Martha Stewart.  Make use of typically wasted space by installing a couple of shelves across the bottom of the closet to keep shoes organized.  Assign a coordinated bin to everyone in the house to store baseball gloves, hats, and sweatshirts.  Martha Stewart also suggests sliding smaller boxes onto the floor under the bottom shelf for storing pet toys, tennis balls, and other outdoor items.  Hang two or three long hooks on the back of the door to create easy out-of-the-way storage for purses and tote bags.

If you’re on a budget, check out your local dollar or discount store for affordable open tote bins.  Also an over-the-door hook can work well if you don’t want to drill any holes into your closet door.  To keep the floor clean, place a large tray under the boots and shoes, like this pebble filled boot tray.  A small closet doesn’t have to be a burden if you know how to maximize the space.
