If you live in Howard County, Maryland, get ready for the next free shredding event coming up this Saturday in Ellicott City. The county is sponsoring the event and will accept your old documents and sensitive information on Saturday, October 15, 2016. Howard County residents will have the opportunity to get rid of their backlog of shredding at no cost.
The Howard County Community Shred Event will be at the Long Gate Park & Ride off of Route 100 (exit 1A) in Ellicott City, from 9 a.m. -1 p.m. Howard County residents can bring up to 3 bags or boxes of paper to be shredded on-site.
Please note that this is not an e-cycle event. Electronic equipment, batteries etc. will not be accepted.

- Federal and State Tax documents
- Credit card and other household bills
- Medical records
- Pay stubs
- Mortgage documents
- Insurance bills
Items NOT Accepted:
- File folders
- Manila folders
- Junk mail
- Event programs
- Coloring books
- Calendars, etc.
Please make sure that your boxes or paper bags are ALSO free of:
- Plastic or glass items
- Binder clips
- Scissors, etc.
