Goodwill truck at Alpha Ridge Landfill in Howard County, Md.

Goodwill.orgI pretty good at getting rid of stuff year-round, but in Spring I tend to do a major clean-out, so it’s nice when charitable organizations make it easy to donate my items.  We have a couple of Goodwill stores in the area, and at my local landfill they will be taking our donations on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month.  I know that many of my subscribers live nearby, so I wanted to share.  If you do not live nearby, check  with your local Goodwill (if you have one) to see if they will be offering a similar service in your area.

In Howard County, residents can drop off their donations at the Alpha Ridge Landfill (2350 Marriottsville Rd)  on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month.  Per the Howard County Government website, Goodwill will be in the lower area by the gazebo from 8am to 3:30pm.  They will accept clothing, toys and household items in good usable condition.

Of course, if you have a Goodwill store nearby, you can also drop off your donations during the store’s opening hours.  In Howard County, we now have the following three Goodwill store locations.  Call your nearest store to find out their opening hours before making your trip:

Columbia East Marketplace:
7351 Assateague Drive
Jessup, MD 20794
(443) 755-1486

Snowden Square Shopping Center:
9097 Snowden River Parkway Columbia, MD 21046
(410) 872-0134

Ellicott City:
10164 Baltimore National Pike
Ellicott City, MD 21042
(410) 750-3615

Enjoy your spring cleaning!
