Last year, for Earth Day, Howard County sponsored a shred day at the GreenFest 2014 event, but this year they decided to separate them, so the free shredding event will be this Saturday, April 25th. The event is for all residents at the Long Gate Park & Ride (exit 1A off of Route 100) from 9am to 1pm (rain or shine) or whenever the truck is full.
If you’re a Howard County resident and can’t make this one, Howard County will also be sponsoring a free community shredding event for residents on Saturday, May 16th at the Gary J. Arthur Community Center (2400 Rt 97, Glenwood) from 9am to 1pm (rain or shine), or whenever the truck is full.
For both events, the maximum limit is 3 bags or boxes per person of materials to be shredded. The shredder also accepts computer disks and compact discs (cds) for shredding, if they contain valuable information.
If I hear of more shredding events for Howard or surrounding counties, I will announce them in an upcoming blog post.
