What is Virtual Organizing?

Have you been trying to get organized for the longest time, but always seem to end up back where you started?  Or, perhaps you have one room or closet that has become a cluttered dumping ground?  Hiring a professional organizer to teach you the skills you need to clear your clutter and maintain order in your home is a worthwhile investment, but is not in everyone’s budget.  Fortunately, with the help of technology, you now have the more affordable option of virtual organizing.  I offer virtual organizing as an additional service to clients outside of my service area, and to anyone who prefers to do the work themselves, but need the guidance, support and expertise of a professional organizer.  Virtual organizing is also suited to very busy people who are at a point in their life where they are simply unable to schedule large blocks of time to complete long decluttering sessions, but really want to make a positive change in their lives.

How does virtual organizing work?
Virtual organizing can be offered by phone, email and using online video call services like Skype.  For me, virtual organizing by phone allows me to build a relationship with my client, and I include additional support by email and other technologies, allowing me to help anyone worldwide, who has access to the internet.

In order for virtual organizing to be a success, my clients share digital photos of the disorganized space, a detailed description of the challenges that they’re facing, and their overall goals for the space.  This gives me the information I need to do a space analysis and provide recommendations, including a personalized action plan, customized to meet their organizational needs.  By the end of each call my clients are given a homework assignment to complete before the next session.

My virtual organizing clients can choose to “meet” with me weekly, twice a month or monthly.  Clients also have an option to meet on an ongoing basis, which is especially helpful for clients who struggle with challenges that negatively affect their ability to organize, e.g. ADD/ADHD.
